 PASTOR

Rev. Jeff Richards is originally from Geneva, Nebraska and is a lifelong Methodist.  He first felt the calling to pastoral ministry as a sophomore in high school through the nudging of his pastor.  He pursued his college education with this goal in mind, receiving his Religion-Christian Ministry degree from Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.  He continued that path toward pastoral ministry at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, CO completing his Master of Divinity in 2011.  Sensing the call that his education was not complete; he returned the next year to Iliff to also receive his Master of Arts in Pastoral and Spiritual Care degree.  It was in the summer between degrees that he met his future spouse, Kit Riggs, who is originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania .  They started crafting a life together in Colorado, and Jeff received his first appointment at Faith United Methodist Church in Cheyenne, WY.  In 2016, he was ordained by Bishop Elaine Stanovsky and reappointed to Littleton United Methodist Church in Littleton, CO.  Jeff and Kit's mutual calling invited them to consider a move to Eastern Pennsylvania to be close to family and start a new chapter of ministry.  Rev. Jeff is pleased to serve the community of Willistown UMC starting in July 2021.

Rev. Jeff enjoys reading, sports of all kinds, and spending quality time with his wife and their dog, Madge, who started as a puppy in training with Guide Dogs for the Blind and was later adopted by them.

Hello! My name is Sarah Mumford Cass. I serve Willistown UMC as the organist and choir director for the traditional service. I have played the organ since the age of 16 and was a summer replacement for two summers at a Methodist Church. I later became the substitute organist at West Chester UMC where I decided I wanted to play organ again as part of church worship. I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the tiny village of Vienna. I attended Washington College for my BA, University of MD for my MA and continued in music studies at West Chester University. I have also participated in private organ and voice studies with Roy Sweet & Anita Mello. When I am not rehearsing the choir, singing, or playing the organ and piano, I enjoy reading and gardening. My favorite scripture is Philippians 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord always and again, I say rejoice! For more information about the choir, contact the church office.
